REAL Talk, Springer Family Newsletter, Week of 9/28/26

Posted Date: 09/27/26 (01:00 PM)

Good afternoon, Springer Families! We were pleased to see so many faces at last week’s Donuts with Grownups events. If you weren’t able to attend, I wanted to make sure you could put faces to names when we reach out or you need us. Pictured below from left to right: Lisa Robinson, Student Support Administrator; Elizabeth Cromartie, Principal; and Jehan Gabrual, Associate Principal. We are so proud to be a part of The Park and are eager to support your child and family.

PTA Reflections Entries due 10/2

Do you remember receiving this packet? Use the arts to share your personal reflections on the theme: “What My Culture Means to Me.” Your work will be reviewed for interpretation of theme, creativity, and technique. We look forward to celebrating your artistry and achievement in the arts.

Make your submission by emailing your submission AND your entry form to Mrs. Mason (reflections@springfieldparkpta.org)

Walk & Roll to School Day, 10/7:

Adventure is calling...... Join us on Wednesday, October 7th for a Walk and Roar to School Day as we promote physical activity, community engagement, and school spirit! Springers are WILD about WALKING and ROLLING to school! Feel free to wear your favorite safari-themed clothes and animal costumes as you walk or ride your scooter, skates, or bike to school! If your student normally travels to school by bus or car, you can join us by driving them that day and parking in the school parking lot or somewhere in the neighborhood (not directly in front of the school) and walking with your student down one of our two main sidewalks leading to the school. If your student is normally a walker or bike rider, they can do what they normally do! To get the FULL experience, wait at the top of the hill until 7:20 before making your way down the sidewalk. There will be several picture-taking opportunities along the way. Make sure you don't miss out on this paws-itively un-fur-gettable adventure at the Park!

This year we are adding Crepes Coffee Truck to the fun! What a great idea to grab a treat for your walk back home!

Virtual Gifted Information Session, 10/9, 8am

Please join us virtually on October 9th at 8 am for a parent/guardian information session to learn more about the Gifted Identification Process and Gifted Services provided in HCPS. School staff will provide information regarding the referral and identification process via a division video and a question/answer session. The gifted referral window will be open from October 22 - November 12 and referrals may be made at that time. Please stay tuned for additional information in the coming weeks. Please contact Jehan Gabrual (jmgabrual@henrico.k12.va.us), Gifted Identification Coordinator, or Debbie Beam (dubeam@henrico.k12.va.us) with questions.

International Night is coming!

Click here for the form! Our International Night is Thursday, October 15th!  We are asking for community support and participants! Do you have a special way in which you would like to represent your home country or culture? We would love to have your help in representing the rich diversity of our school!  This can be a student, parent, or family member presentation. Thank you in advance for your support!

Did you know?

October begins “Family Fridays” where guests over 18 may visit your child on Fridays. Make sure you have completed the Online Volunteer Application prior to your visit. These are picnic style visits during the months of October, November, March, April, and May. Weather is variable so pack a jacket and maybe even a couple of plastic shopping bags in case the picnic tables aren’t dry.

10/16 Family Friday: We will have a food truck and are taking pre-orders until 10/12. Here’s a google form if you would like to participate in the All American Eats food truck on 10/16.

Safety Matters:

  • Be sure to retain your green family number. If you recall, this might be used in the case of a need for family reunification that is unexpected. It is also used anytime throughout the year when you might change transportation from the usual means to parent pick-up.

  • As mentioned last week, it is imperative that students not arrive at school prior to 7:20am. Teachers and staff members are readying for their arrival and are not providing supervision.
